An elegant Italian restaurant with distinctive style
Gratzi, an elegant Italian restaurant with distinctive style, was founded in downtown Ann Arbor, Mich. in December 1987. Formerly the Orpheum Theater, which screened the most popular movies of the day in the 1930s, Gratzi maintains the flair of the dramatic history still preserved today in the restaurant’s elegant décor and ambiance. Seated above Gratzi’s bar is a grand sculpture of Orpheus himself, the great poet and musician, overlooking dining room guests, while a beautifully painted Renaissance-style mural depicting an ancient bacchanal reinforces the indulgent and purely pleasurable atmosphere.
Gratzi has withstood the test of time and has been a successful landmark in Ann Arbor for almost 30 years! Students from many year’s past that have attended the University of Michigan or Eastern Michigan University are familiar with Gratzi and we are continually hearing stories from people as they return to the area about having their first date at Gratzi or got engaged at our restaurant. It is known as one of the most romantic locations in town!
Our guests can enjoy several courses of the freshest flavors of the season with our regional Italian cuisine. The perfect Italian meal varies according to the season or desires of the moment. It’s an event where those sharing the meal take time to appreciate companionship and partake in a layered experience of a meal served with several distinct courses. We hope our guests enjoy the purely pleasurable dining experience.
At Gratzi, we feature a full service bar with emphasis on wines, particularly those of Italy. Another feature in Gratzi that has been extremely popular is the bread and antipasti table, located in the main dining room. The activity surrounding this table creates an energetic vibe in the restaurant while guests are served.
We welcome you to the table at Gratzi and hope you enjoy your dining experience with us!
